Citrine

A Dark Romance

In a realm where the veil between the infernal and mortal worlds thins under dual moons, a solitary herbalist named Morana—or Mora to her few remaining companions—prepares for the most daring ritual of her life. Scarred by personal loss and sharpened by quiet rage, Mora seeks revenge against the tyrannical Empress Constance, the woman responsible for the brutal conscription and disappearance of her family twelve years prior. Trained in old magic and secrecy by her mentor, Corbett, Mora is no stranger to the arcane—but nothing could truly prepare her for what she’s about to summon.

Under the eerie light of twin new moons, Mora performs an unholy rite, offering her blood and soul in a pact with Asmodeus, the infernal King of Lust. The demon answers her call not only with unnerving immediacy but with sensual, terrifying grace. Their agreement: Mora is granted three dual moons to exact her vengeance without limitation—but in the end, Asmodeus will collect his due. As sparks of attraction and power begin to smolder between them, Mora must navigate her volatile bond with a creature both beguiling and dangerous, whose motivations remain shrouded in seductive mystery.

Mora’s world is lush and grounded: the sleepy town of Leira, where townsfolk prepare for the harvest festival with warm cider, bread, and laughter. But the juxtaposition of simple pleasures with the encroaching darkness in Mora’s soul grows ever starker. Her best friend, Emilia, vibrant and keen-eyed, senses something amiss and becomes an anchor to Mora’s dwindling humanity. Emilia’s biting wit and unwavering loyalty offer both comfort and confrontation as Mora walks the treacherous edge between justice and damnation.

As Mora trains with the guidance of the demon, awakening latent infernal abilities and forging a deeper bond with him, questions surface—of trust, control, and desire. The demon is more than a caricature of sin; he is layered with ancient sorrow, subtle manipulation, and flickers of reluctant care. Their dynamic oscillates between tension and tenderness, ever complicated by the growing possibility that Mora may not want to sever the cord tying them together.

But revenge has a cost. As the winter solstice nears and Mora’s power surges, so too do the risks—of corruption, betrayal, and unintended consequences. Asmodeus may honor their contract, but demons never play fair. Mora must outwit the Empress and demons alike if she hopes to reclaim what was stolen—or else become the very monster she sought to destroy.

Citrine is a dark romantic fantasy woven with sensual tension, a Gothic atmosphere, and emotional depth. At its core, it is a story about grief transmuted into power, love tempered by danger, and the seductive price of vengeance.
